Kyoukai No Kanata 10-12 (End)

I think, if we look into every aspect that was shown in Kyoukai No Kanata (referred as KNK after this) world, we all knew KyoAni could have delivered a better, more polished story. But they didn’t try, it was the insane choices of either maintaining comedy routines or concentrate more into the story elements.

It’s been a month now since KNK ended. I’m not going to do any impressions as they aren’t needed, by now you must all know what happened in the story.

KyoAni has single-handedly screwed themselves over by leaving SO MANY LOOSE ENDS in the final episode. Izumi half-youmu discovery we learned from the antagonist. The antagonist’s past is unknown and riddled with mysteries, we don’t even know WHY he wanted things to go that why.

Will Hiroomi propose to Mitsuki as shown in the last ep? Who knows. Okay, fine I made that up. Anyway, let me continue on the loose ends. Uh, well, we don’t even know what was Beyond The Boundary in simple terms, it felt like “Akihito is an entity defined as KNK” but at the same time he has a humane mind. Most of the youmos in KNK who are capable of communicating had human sides, the phenome known as KNK is a loose end, in a way it’s something that will “reset” the world, or “destroy it” .

The biggest mystery of all? Akihito’s mother. She’s the biggest offender in KNK. From the very start Akihito recognized her as his mother. Not only that, we never knew who was his father, nobody mentioned at all who’s his father, maybe because he was always a youmo, not a half-youmo like Izumi.

Which brings me to ask: How did Akihito became Akihito? It seemed to me that his mother is one giant kickass fighter. In the end, Akihito’s mother not only is an offender, but a goddamn troll. “We shouldn’t hurt youmos blah blah blah” then leaves the scene. That’s all.

So… Mirai died, then somehow she was resurrected. I don’t even know how this was possible, many people think this is a happy ending… but jesus, it has no logic behind it… how do we as an audience we felt horrible watching Mirai go, come back as if nothing happened to her.

Izumi became a gutless character at the end of the story and disappeared. Hiroomi is now wearing bigboy pants and Mitsuki might get knocked up soon.

The end.

I’ve enjoyed KNK, despite my complains about it. I think KNK did a lot of things right, at the same time they did mess up a lot of things, but hey we have been on this side way too many times. Tell me an anime series that started really amazing and ended like shit? I’m pretty sure you can come up with a few titles, especially if you are an old anime viewer.

Score? Pfft, who needs a scoring system. Go watch the goddamn series, b-baka! Stop relying on score systems based on personal tastes. 😛

Impressions: Kyoukai no Kanata 06 and 07 – Akkey The Mediator!

Alright! Time to talk and predict the next KnK episode. Let’s start with Episode 6

IT WAS AWESOME. IDOLS, LOLIS, YOUMOS DANCING. STICKY LIQUIDS!

Now that’s that out of the way. Let’s talk about Episode 7, which is actually plot related and has a lot to offer besides just dialogue. Today’s episode was bloodylicious (lame pun intended) and it brings a lot of questions–not about what happened at the end. Sakura joins the cast of idols  warriors and sexy teacher to deal with the main heroine. I’m going to make a little note here that I’m still a bit disgusted of this type of storytelling. Mirai is one of the heroines in this series, being a heroine means that she won’t simply die because of that fact. If Mirai had died it would blow everyone’s mind.

Sakura isn’t a strong willed character. Why? Her behavior does not show any type of determination to get Mirai. She wanted revenge, but her revenge wasn’t strong enough to go after her. Then she was talked into it by that idiot with glasses, but that doesn’t really change her behavior or determination.

If she wanted to kill Mirai, she would have done so after Mirai killed the Hollow Shadow, which by the way, anyone with a heavy grudge would have taken the opportunity.

In the flashbacks, Sakura was still shown as a weak character. Not weak as one that couldn’t defend herself. But weak as one that could develop that type of determination. Did she really blame Mirai at all for what she did? It was a possession I think that any warrior or normal people evaluating the case would had to get rid of the hollow shadow, the host was probably dead, which by the way just thinking about something possessing you, rendering you powerless and killing you is itself damn scary.

That’s all I wanted to say about Sakura for now. Now let’s go back to our “somehow chronological events”.

Hiromi for best brother of the year wanting her sister to succeed in the world of idols.

Have anyone even questioned how did Mitsuki had all that material. I think that if Mirai had a bonsai hobby, Mitsuki might be a fujoshi herself. I mean, her brother is a pervert after all, it might run in the family.

I’m sold.

I like how Sakura is trying to assess what’s going on. “Did he do weird things to me?” while keeping that stern look on her face.

I APPROVE OF SUCH RELATIONSHIP. Could we even blame him if he did?!

[HorribleSubs] Kyoukai no Kanata - 07 [720p].mkv_snapshot_11.54_[2013.11.13_15.01.44]

IT WAS DELICIOUS. The things I would love to see Akkey say, “he said it was delicious”

I wanted to know how did it all fit within the timeline. I’m going to assume that she was crying because of what happened. Sakura had the guts to bring her a damned sandwich?

Hmm…

Brace yourselves, winter is coming!

Now what is The Calm? Did Sin from Final Fantasy X happened to jump into Kyoukai No Kanata storyline? That would be awesome.

It gave me chills when I read that. Now things are about to get more interesting. I predict that Akkey, being a half-human and half-youmo has a big part to play as a mediator. If I’m not mistaken, Izumi mentions a God. That God has to be some type of youmo, right? Akkey has advantages. I think we are finally going to see what his role in the story, besides being a powerless person, is in a few episodes.

Update #01

Bah, I called it update 01 until I find a decent name for posts like these. I’ve been late on my impressions since I’m taking my sweet time in studying and doing even more nerdy stuff.

Untitled

So, it was like… I was guessing for a while now. It seems there’s been a lot “turmoil” of the direction KnK is going to head. I think KnK itself is going to end up in a cliffhanger, that’s honestly what I believe. I don’t think the show has gone from “srs business” to “lel idols”.

So in episode 05 we saw them strengthening their relationship, not as warriors but as becoming friends. I think episode 06 brims with that relationship as silly yet awesome as it look, if we compare the previous episodes, we could see Hiromi and Mitsuki not getting involved and Mirai would be trying to devise on ways to kill it along with Akihito. That is, if episode 05 never happened.

Is it a filler episode? probably. I don’t really care that much. It was awesome. Plot wise? Well, episode 7 is pretty close so I wouldn’t give up on having an interesting story. I don’t mind the direction they are taking. But, I did want to see an apologetic Mirai. Why? because she stabbed Akihito countless of times fully knowing that it hurted him a lot.

Parts like that are missing on the series. They put Mirai as a bashful and clumsy girl, however things like the stabbing should have been prioritized after Akihito’s transformation.

Next episode seems to be about Mirai’s past. So I think we’ll be back on the story.

Anyways, I’ll be writing about this when I get the time

Log Horizon 06

It was okay. I still don’t like Shiroe that much. I’d rather have Nyanta taking the steps to create the guild. However, Shiroe is the protagonist. Personally, I don’t like him that much mostly because of his personality and indecisiveness.

Akatsuki is mine.

Outbreak Company 06

Gardius is my wa……..ifu? Well, it was an episode full of references. Misuel is still my favorite 😀 but Minori wins the cake, seriously she’s really awesome. Shinichi’s pretty tame compared to Minori.

Strike the Blood 06

It was pretty…. generic. Usual fighting scenes, usual Himeragi “tsundere” act, usual misunderstandings, usual overpowered goth loli.

All in all…. I was really hoping for a better story 😦

Kill La Kill 06

I’m on the verge of dropping this series… I’ll explain later.

Deadliest trap ever known to man

Deadliest trap (jailbait) ever known to man

I don’t even care anymore. I laughed so much in this episode by all the goddamn nonsense, especially when Mirai started singing I just lost it. There’s been crossed signals between boring critics who want srs businezz and your typical anime watcher who just love watching anime for the fun of it.

Idols! Hiromi is mai... waifu?

Idols! Hiromi is mai… waifu?

Anyway, I don’t think KnK has gone off the rails in terms of the story. The next episode will get more of Mirai’s past which I’m sure the new bonds formed after the events of Akihito might bring us different interactions which we would never see in their previous state.

[HorribleSubs] Kyoukai no Kanata - 06 [720p].mkv_snapshot_19.39_[2013.11.06_15.25.38]

I’m not going to write much this time. There isn’t much to talk in terms of the story, it looks like it’s just KyoAni poking the fun out of idols, I didn’t expect Mirai to be so awful. I thought they were going to do the typical character that’s suddenly good in everything.

"49*@)$*)%(&39?!"

“49*@)$*)%(&39?!”

Do I want more episodes like this? Hell yes, as long as they don’t alter the story I’m fine with these type of things.

[HorribleSubs] Kyoukai no Kanata - 05 [720p].mkv_snapshot_08.53_[2013.10.30_20.13.35]

Sometimes we are conflicted in carrying all the burden, we have to deal everything alone and at some stage in your life you don’t want to rely on anyone because you end up “betrayed”. “We are alone”, therefore we must carry on regardless of the weight we desire to throw away. This episode here just confirms why I like Kyoukai no Kanata, at some point I thought Akihito was going to spout lines about “they aren’t my friends, they are there to kill if I lose control”.

[HorribleSubs] Kyoukai no Kanata - 05 [720p].mkv_snapshot_19.20_[2013.10.30_20.14.00]

The Nase family has an intriguing way of raising their warriors. Especially Izumi being the catalyst that forces Mitsuki to stay alone. That is indeed a very painful move, we have yet to understand why Izumi told her that at such a young age. There wasn’t any “spite” when she said it, it all came as a warning. Still, she only has her brother Hiromi, but when it comes to fighting we all need our pillar of support. Mitsuki have been shown to have this bland have of disinterest from the very beginning.

Now we know it has been all but a mask. When Mirai was introduced as the first female character (human too) in this episode we see how badly she tries to subdue her emotions of trying to befriend her. Of course, nobody can subdue it. We are talking about the Mirai, the glasses beauty!

[HorribleSubs] Kyoukai no Kanata - 05 [720p].mkv_snapshot_21.01_[2013.10.30_20.14.44]

I think Mirai and Akihito are like magnets. Akihito being immortal and Mirai being from a cursed family we have to shift perspectives. Both Mirai and Akihito have gone through hardships together. Mirai and Mitsuki are literally the same. If we remember the previous episodes she’s been trying to alienate herself from Akihito. She has her reasons, mostly for revenge and atonement. Mitsuki on the other side has been told to cut off any type of relationship at a young age.

Everyone is all alone, but not anymore. I think from here onwards we will start seeing more team combinations and more trust from them. We have yet to see Izumi’s past and family issues.

Also, damn Aya-chan I want all her collection T__T.
