Impressions: Gingitsune 06 – We know what to do, but it’s hard to change

Finally, gonna take advantage of this free time I have. Gingitsune 06 is up! Today’s episode was pretty tame, well, most of Gingitsune is tame since the audience are probably children. Nothing wrong with that, anyway, Satoru is in a pinch, kind of.

In this episode we see Satoru trying to open up to people. I think his situation resembles a lot to those have been hurt by people. We put up walls so we don’t get hurt, even I have certain walls right now, Satoru uses it as a mean to avoid annoyances. Too bad it doesn’t always work that way, there are people out there that want to know us better. Sometimes we mistake that sign as something bad, because we’ve put up the wall for so long it’s hard to know if they are making an honest attempt to know us or if they are planning to mess with us.

100% guaranteed this is the face an introvert makes when people come unannounced. As an introvert myself the idea of people coming over without me being mentally prepared is recipe for disaster. Satoru, hang in there!

Oh crap, he’s gonna snap!

Exactly my point! But we don’t mean it like that.

You sure are a bad liar Haru. There’s a bit of a plothole in here though. How come a herald, who has lived more years than a human acts like a child. I thought by now Haru would have more sense on how to intervene with issues…

Overall, it was a nice episode. Nothing grandeur or overly flashy.

Impressions: Gingitsune 05

Gingitsune wins this round. From all the episodes aired, Gingitsune Episode 05 was by far one of the best I’ve seen. Kill la kill, Outbreak Company, Strike The Blood couldn’t deliver in terms of story. At least, in my opinion, Gingitsune managed to deliver something more than just a perspective.

I’m going to start with the “bad parts” of the episode. Starting with Makoto’s father, he’s like this sort of character that kills drama whenever he goes. I really hate his character, I couldn’t stand the fact that he’s just there as a cog to move the story elements. If the series was about Makoto living alone with the Herald I think the outcome would’ve come even more interesting because her age and experience isn’t enough to solve the situation presented in this episode.

The episode begins with a backstory of Haru and her origins. I thought it was rather sweet on how Haru and Satoru relationship began to grow since he was a kid. Haru literally was there for him since he was a baby. Haru’s affection comes from two different sources, the time spent together with Satoru, and how the resemblance of the person who “saved” her is.

In this episode, Satoru’s family issues were pushed away, probably temporarily. They fixed a new point of view of being human and how we need each other. One of the outbursts was led by Makoto, Satoru blurted that it all happened because he’s a child. We know he is a child at his age. However, situations don’t dissipate just because you are young or older. The point is that if the road is tough to cross, we need to rely on others no matter what. There’s possibly no way you could go far without the help of other people.

Haru on the other hand is starting. We see her old partner. But here’s the thing about the whole conversation. Her new partner, Otomatsu, mentions that his partner passed away. Which for me raised a flag. Haru’s appearance in Makoto’s shrine wasn’t a coincidence, but a probability that Gin’s partner passed away.[HorribleSubs] Gingitsune - 05 [720p].mkv_snapshot_15.42_[2013.11.03_17.52.28]

I think we will see more of Makoto and Haru encounters in the future. Haru is pretty much overprotective of Satoru. In truth, I don’t expect any type of romance between them. There could be a possibility, but two users with the Sight power together? it might come off as extremely rare.

To be honest I don’t really expect much in terms of romance in this series. It might become a really sloppy one.[HorribleSubs] Gingitsune - 05 [720p].mkv_snapshot_12.25_[2013.11.03_17.49.00]

Well, I’ll be joining you, Gin, to sleep.

Just one more note. Remember that the post itself is an opinion and I wish to leave it at that. If you liked Outbreak Company, KLK, STB, that’s fine, personally I couldn’t write anything, especially with Kill La Kill.

First Impressions: Gingitsune

Makoto Saeki is the daughter of a shrine priest in a small Inari Shinto shrine dedicated to the God Ukanomitama. Despite being the fifteenth generation heiress of the Shrine, she is living a good life after her mother died. However, she has an unusual gift when she met the messenger of the god Inari: an anthropomorphic fox named Gintaro, declaring her the successor. Gintaro can see a short glimpse into the future and find lost things despite being rude and unmotivated, but still developed a good friendship with Makoto. As she is the only girl who can see the spirit, both of them decide to be a go-between for the gods and humans as they try to help those who come to the shrine.

Today I watched the first episode of Gingitsune. It was a pleasant sweet episode engaging an unusual relationship between a herald and a human girl.

This series is a must watch with the family, that is, if you watch anime with your son or daughter then pay no second thoughts. Even if you don’t share such traits like that. I still would say that it’s worthwhile. It’s really rare to see anime series like this, things like Bunny Drop (P.S Don’t mention the dark side of the manga, the anime was generally good though!), Kamichu!, and Studio Ghibli films (oh god when I first wrote this I actually wrote stupid ghibli, no ill intentions!).

My thoughts on it? I enjoy series like this. They are simple, touching, and sweet to the point that there isn’t a deeper meaning (plot wise). It was delightful to hear the music in the anime. I don’t know who’s the composer but he or she truly did an amazing work. This includes the voice actor who voices Gintaro. One of the most amazing voice I’ve ever heard from a male actor to be honest. We can all fangirl about voice actress, but you rarely see people praising voice actors(japan) in our western communities.

Anyway, that’s it from me.
