I took the liberty to finish Break Blade the anime today. I’m not going to lie, I liked it but at the same time I really, really had problems with it.
It starts with a very simple issue, it leaves too many loose ends between characters. Most of their motivations are almost non-existent, except for the protagonist of course. A few notable deaths in the series were done in such a manner that would raise a few flags. Why? Because we didn’t get to know the character. The protagonist CARED about him/her, but we didn’t know WHY he cared.
It’s hard to make a connection without any background, it’s not impossible but, when it comes to that climax where you know something thrilling is going to happen, my reaction would be “well… I’m just not sure how to feel about this at all”.
The series didn’t exactly win me over. If you asked me how I would score it then I would say around 6 or 7 out of 10. Anyway, I’m hoping to make a full fledge post. I’m also going to toss that after I finished the series, I went around and also read all the chapters available of the Break Blade (manga). I’m not even remotely happy D:
